Versatile in many delicious ways, humans have been making bread for about 14,000 years! It comes in a myriad of forms, like flatbreads, buns, and loaves, made from a variety of different grains like rye, wheat, and the delightful to say pumpernickel.

You can find a wide selection of breads here at the Co-op including:

Rudi’s Rocky Mountain Bakery: crafting certified organic bread since 1976, this brand is committed to groovy vibes and combining the best ingredients with expertise. GreenTree carries 12 varieties of their vast offerings of loaves, English muffins, buns, and tortillas!

Stone House Bread: locally made in Traverse City, Michigan, for over 30 years, they are the largest sourdough bakery in the Midwest! Crafting over 13,000 loaves per day they continue to expand and develop. They’ve even built partnerships where their old bread becomes local animal feed for pigs and goats! Great bread and sustainable practices – what’s not to love!

Old Mission Bakery: this company has been taking their passion for beautiful bread to the public since 2009! Still family run in Traverse City, Michigan, they source locally and give back to their community through daily Food Rescue deliveries to the neighborhood food pantry. Their commitment to healthy ingredients, excellent employment, and to the community keeps them a top delicious contender as a maker of truly excellent bread!

Vistas Hermosa: a newer addition to the Co-op, but continuing a tasty trend of great-tasting bread options with their tortillas. Handmade corn and flour tortillas are available because a group of taquerias were committed to sharing authentic and delicious foods with the public. Using local sources, they always meet high standards for freshness and flavor!

  1. Love Greentree breads. Love Stonehouse Breads and their sourdough n Rye with Caraway seeds. Also, Ezekiel and Dave’s for sprouted and multigrains.
