Good food, good folks, music, children laughing, and democracy… what could it be? GreenTree’s Annual Meeting! On April 28th our smiling Co-op Owners made their way to the Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum for our 2017 Annual Meeting and Board election. This year we had four candidates running for four open seats. Attending Owners (40 households and 80+ attendees) enjoyed food from GreenTree’s Deli as well as a community potluck, music from fellow Co-op Owner Mike Gilmore, and of course the presentation of GreenTree’s Annual Report, which you can view here. (You can also pick up a copy at the store.) Special thanks goes out to GreenTree staff and Board of Directors for bringing it all together, Mike Gilmore for the music, and the museum staff for providing such a wonderful space for our meeting and our community!
We wrapped up the second year of our Wooden Nickel program and were able to donate $169.60 to Women’s Aid Services and $89.55 to The Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but over the course of the year, GreenTree customers kept 8,216 new bags from being used! Our Owners also determined the recipients for our 2018 donations – Foster Closet and People Helping People.
Our first ever casserole contest was won by Jon Barker – who now works in our Deli! So if you enjoyed his cooking, you can stop by and pick something up any day of the week!
