By Eric Dilno, Board Member, Co-op owner

As students head back to school, healthy eating plays an important role in helping children stay focused, energized, and ready to learn. A balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins provides the essential nutrients children need to support both their physical well-being and academic success throughout the school day.

GreenTree Co-op Market makes it easier for families to access fresh, nutritious, and often locally sourced foods. Whether preparing healthy meals at home or packing school lunches, Co-op Owners and community members can feel confident knowing they have access to quality food options that support healthy lifestyles. GreenTree is committed to helping families make informed choices and build lifelong healthy eating habits that allow children and communities to thrive.

As a new Board Member, I have stepped into this role with a deep appreciation for what a cooperative truly represents. GreenTree is more than just a place to purchase fresh, healthy food for my family. It is a community of people who share common values and a commitment to supporting one another.

One of the unique benefits of a cooperative is the opportunity to be actively involved in shaping its future. Owners have a voice in how the Co-op operates, can share ideas for positive change, and participate in decisions that affect the organization. While becoming an Owner does include a modest fee, the value it provides is significant. Owners receive a 1% rebate on all purchases, a 10% discount on case orders, access to discounts from our Community Partners, and the opportunity to help elect the Board of Directors who represent their interests. Unlike other grocery options in our area, GreenTree Co-op Market offers something truly special: a sense of ownership, connection, and community. I encourage anyone who has considered joining to learn more about the benefits and become part of an organization that supports healthy food, local partnerships, and community engagement.
