What’s in Season?

Summer is when our Produce Department truly stands out from other grocery stores. GreenTree carries substantially more local and local organic items than our competitors. Additionally, when we say we carry local items we mean the majority our local set is from Gratiot, Clare, and Isabella counties, though technically we consider all produce grown in Michigan to be local, too. This is unique as I’ve seen maps at other retailers that showed a six state area as “local.”

(Hyper) Local items currently available: Organic Caraflex Cabbage, Organic Carrots, Organic Celery, Organic Slicing Cucumbers, Organic Pickling Cucumbers, Organic Curly Kale, Organic Lacinato Kale, 12 varieties of Micro Greens, Organic Shallots, Organic Fresh Red and White Onions, Yellow Squash, Organic Slicing Tomatoes, Cherry Tomatoes, Organic Heirloom Tomatoes, Organic Cherry Tomatoes, Candy Onions, Organic Purple Bell Peppers, Organic Yellow Bell Peppers, Organic Cantaloupe, Organic Brussels on Stalk, Organic Anaheim Peppers, Organic Jalapeno Peppers, Organic Hot Hungarian Wax (Hunky) Peppers, Organic Edible Flowers, Organic Kholrabi, Organic Red and Golden Beets, Cauliflower, Rainbow Chard, Organic Leeks, Organic Turnips, Basil, and Organic Pristine Apples.

Summer is also stone fruit season and we are currently offering southern peaches, nectarines, red plums, sweet cherries, organic peaches, and organic nectarines.

The local produce selection varies day-to-day as items move in and out of season. Don’t wait to stock up on your favorites!
