Have you heard of the GreenSprouts?
Here at GreenTree we believe it’s important for people to have access to healthy food. Part of the way we do this is by working with national organizations, regional suppliers, and local farmers to get the best prices on the freshest produce that we possibly can. While it isn’t possible for us to reach absolutely everyone with these healthy foods, we do offer a little something extra to the youngest members of our community. That’s where the GreenSprouts come in.
The GreenSprouts club is a special group that kids can join to receive a free piece of fruit every time they come in shopping. How can they join? They just need to be 12 years old or younger and come in shopping with their family. You don’t need to fill out any paperwork. We won’t send you any surveys or sale fliers either. Just let your child pick out the single-serving fruit of their choice, say that they’re a GreenSprout at the register, then we’ll weigh the fruit and you’re good to go!
Sprouts can choose their fruit at any time during your shopping trip. It can be hard to shop when you’re hungry, and it’s even harder for kids. Just pick out a fresh treat and bring it up to the counter – a sweet banana or a crispy apple can help the grocery shopping experience become much more relaxing for everyone.
Of course, the key to really enjoying fresh foods is making them a part of your diet as much, and as often, as possible. As much as they love fresh fruit, even GreenSprouts can be picky when it comes to eating healthy! Don’t worry though, there are a ton of great resources for teaching kids great eating habits. These two articles from StrongerTogether.coop show you how to pack healthy (and appealing) lunches and easy ways to encourage veggie based snacking. They’ll help your kids eat like GreenSprouts all day long!
