By Robert Murray. Board Chair, Co-op Owner
I do hope that you are having a very pleasant fall season, school is back in session and the fall harvest is in full swing! For many of us this is a time of year where we need to reset our schedules and gear up for all the great things that fall and winter have to offer us. My hope is, as well, that as you are going through this process that GreenTree Cooperative is woven into those plans. If you are thinking about your grocery shopping for the week, or you just need something special for dinner tonight, you can get it at GreenTree. I just want to reinforce the fact that this is our store and by shopping at GreenTree we all benefit. The National Co-op Grocers provides a very nice definition of a cooperative:
“Cooperatives are member-owned, member-governed businesses that operate for the benefit of their members according to common principles agreed upon by the international cooperative community. In Co-ops, members pool resources to bring about economic results that are unobtainable by one person alone.” More simply put, a cooperative is a business: voluntarily owned by the people who use it, and operated for the benefit of its members.
It is so very important to remember that every time you choose to shop at GreenTree you are helping to strengthen our grocery store.
Thank you for your continued support in our endeavor together and I hope to see your smiling faces in the aisles of our shared community.
